I know it's been forever since we posted. We have been a little busy. A week and a half ago, we drove to Utah so Dave could do an internship for West Valley City for the rest of the summer. This was Sophie's first long car trip, and she did great! She slept pretty much the whole time and only woke up when she was hungry. That lasted until our very last stop, about 3 hours before we got to Dave's parents' house. She cried when we put her back in her carseat for about 15 minutes or so, then went back to sleep. Hopefully she does just as well on the way back. At the moment, she's asleep on me, so I can't get up to go get the camera, which has some new pictures of her on it. So instead, I'll post about my garden since I haven't in awhile.
This first one is of my herb garden. As you can see, there are two monsters taking up almost the whole thing. They're two of the three things that came back from last year, and apparently they like the weather in Omaha, because they're huge! The left one is sage, the right one is oregano. Right before we left for Utah, I cut down all the oregano and hung it up to dry. It'll probably be just as big again by the time we get back. This next one is of my rose bush. If you remember, last year it only got one flower on it. This is just the first of four that have bloomed so far.
These interesting flowers are called Canterbury Bells. They were much prettier before the storm hit and squashed them all.
This last one is called Watermelon Coleus. It's just fun because the leaves are green and pink.
There are actually a lot of other things that I could post pictures about in my garden........however, somehow this year I've been a bit lax with taking pictures of the garden. I admit, I've been taking pictures of Sophie instead. That's okay though, right? I completely missed taking pictures of the forget-me-nots when they flowered, and they were so cute! Also, a lot of my garden hasn't flowered yet, including the daisies, gerberas and normal ones, zinnias, coreopsis, and cosmos. Hopefully I'll get to see them when we get back in August. We'll just hope that they survive until then. That's really the only thing that I regretted leaving behind to come to Utah.
Another item of note is that Sophie had her 2-month appointment. Although, she had it 2 weeks early at 6 weeks instead, so these numbers aren't quite right when you compare them to other 2-month olds. Her height was 23 1/2 inches (in the 97th percentile!! and it was 2 weeks early still!), weight was 11 lbs 2.5 oz (84thish percentile), and I can't remember what her head measured, but the percentile was in the 60s. She sleeps 6 or 7 hours in a stretch at night, then wakes up every 2 hours after that. And she refuses to take naps during the day unless she's sleeping on either Dave or me........which is me most days because Dave is at work. She smiles all the time now, and tries to talk to us when we talk to her, which is so cute! I swear she's tried to laugh a few times, but she hasn't quite gotten the hang of it. We give her "roll-over practice" every day, but she still hasn't mastered it. She's so close though. She's also starting to get the hang of having hands. In her swing, there are things hanging down that she's started batting at and actually hitting. Oh, and I can't believe how fast her eyelashes are growing! It's like they were barely there, and then all the sudden they're a quarter inch long. She's had her first sickness (Dave gave it to her). And she loves her Grandma and Grandpa Lott. They fight over who gets to hold her when they both get home from work. It's pretty funny. And it's also nice to have someone hold her so Dave and I can spend some time together or so I can do something by myself......like play the piano. It doesn't work so well one-handed. Anyway, hopefully there will be more pictures soon. Enjoy your day!

Are you in Utah right now? We should play if you are... :)
I'm glad you got there all safe and sound without problems. I can't wait to see new pictures of her. You'll have to send me a video when she starts laughing. I'll stop by your house occasionally and look at your flowers so they don't feel lonely.
