Okay......first, we've had Thanksgiving since I've blogged. We went down to Lisa's brother's house in Orem for dinner. It was fun.......only Sophie had a really hard time with all of the strangers (she'd only met 2 of the group before and there's no way she would've remembered them anyway). We ended up leaving early and missing the pie because she was upset. And we also think that she didn't feel well because she had a little bit of a fever over the next few days. Anyway, Thanksgiving was fun and we ended up making pies for our get together with the Czech's that weekend, so we at least had a complete Thanksgiving. :)
In other news, we had family pictures taken towards the end of October. They actually turned out pretty well I think, even though Sophie wasn't very happy for half of them. Actually, she just wanted to get down and play with the leaves, which is what we eventually let her do and why she looks perfectly happy in her alone pictures. I'm also relieved that they turned out okay, because let me just tell you, I had the worst hair day of my life that day. I have never in my life tried to work with my hair for an hour only to have it get worse and worse and finally give in and have to rewash it with less than a half hour to go before we had to leave. It was a nightmare.
A few weeks ago, I actually gave Sophie her first haircut. Eek! It was a little scary, but her hair was looking a little scary in the back. It just needed to be trimmed so the hair on the top of her head could catch up a little to the back. So I trimmed it maybe a inch? I just combed her hair after her bath the way I usually do and she squirmed a little, but it turned out alright. I wish I would have thought to take a before and after shot, but it was a bit spur of the moment. Sorry. I just haven't taken many pictures lately either. I took some tonight (after Sophie was in bed) of our Christmas decorations, some of which I made.
Our christmas tree and other decorations. Sorry the pictures are kind of dark, but I kept forgetting to take some during daylight hours, and sorry, no lights on for the Christmas tree. That's a huge pain in my neck at the moment. We're having some lighting issues that probably won't get resolved this year. But I still like how the tree turned out.
Another of my Super Saturday projects that I finally got finished. I'm pleased with how it turned out.
Our sad unlighted tree. Aaaaaand you can tell that Sophie has been pulling on the ribbon.Yay for garlands that are on sale at Michael's!
This is one of my favorite things that I did this year. I've wanted one of these glass "candle holders" (technically, that's what it is) so I could put seasonal things in it all year round. You can't tell much from the picture, but everything inside it is sparkly.
But I think this is my all-time favorite thing that I did this year. And it was so easy. I had a fall wreath that I pulled everything off of because it was falling apart anyway. So I had a bare wreath.............and a trip to Michael's later, I had this. I love it! I got the idea from V and Co., which is a blog a really love because of all the fun stuff she does. Here's the link: http://www.vanessachristenson.com/2011/11/v-and-co-how-to-simple-poinsettia.html
I really like this nativity. And obviously Sophie does too. I'm pretty sure she chews on the baby Jesus' head when I'm not looking.
My holiday shelf. That clock is one of my favorite things ever. It sings a different Christmas carol every hour on the hour.
Anyway, that's about it for decorating.
Last Sunday, Sophie actually went to all of nursery by herself. I hung out for about 15 minutes at the very beginning until she warmed up and starting playing. Then I told her I was going to class, gave her a kiss and a wave, and left her. She didn't cry, just went back to playing (I know because I watched through the peephole.....haha). Yay! She's starting to say real words now. Just not very many. She says one complete sentence. "There it is!" She says it all the time. We believe it came from Mickey Mouse clubhouse. My favorite thing: She repeats "I", I say "Love", and every time, she says "Mama". Gotta love that girl. I try to get her to say Daddy, but she refuses. Oh, she loves to say no. It's her favorite.
Anyway, I believe that's all I can think of for now. Or should think of. Hopefully more soon.
