Personal Best

I know it was Sophie's birthday today (the 28th......I know it's like 1:30 the morning of the 29th.  Details.), but the pictures/videos will have to be sorted through tomorrow when I haven't done 3 loads of dishes and my house isn't a disaster.  Then you can hear about all the fun we had.  :)
Okay, so first off, I am NOT a runner.  I'm much more of a "I could walk forever, but please don't make me run" type of girl.  That being said, I have to admit that running is a better exercise than walking is for its value per minute.  Which I'm short on.  Not value.  Minutes.  So, in my quest to be more fit and in accordance with our goal sheet, I've been trying to run a bit each time I exercise. (sidenote:  Dave and I make out an exercise goal sheet thingy, usually in 12 week intervals.  We set our goals for what we'll do every time we exercise and how many times a week, and when the 12 weeks are up and we've met our goals, we reward ourselves.  No, not with ice cream (I wish, but it would defeat the purpose), but with our second favorite thing:  Barnes & Noble.  We get to go and choose one thing for ourselves.  It's great!)  Anyway, it's not a very fast run, but it's still more than a walk, so it counts.  I haven't really run since high school, when I was forced to.  So let's say that high school was my peak for physical fitness.  (Not much of a peak, but hey, it's more of a peak than now for sure)  At that time, the furthest I ran at any one time without stopping was a half mile.  Not very impressive.  Sorry.  So, back to today.  In the last couple weeks, counting today, I have run for 3/4 of a mile twice without stopping to walk.  And today was a bit more than 3/4 of a mile.  Can I just say how great that feels?  Talk about an accomplishment.  I'm pretty sure the world will end when I get up to a mile.
Which I will.
Because I'm awesome.

I could not agree with you more regarding the running...I hate it too. But ever since Payton bought us a treadmill for Christmas, I feel obliged to use it, and walking on it can get soooo boring. So I recommend intervals (60 sec run then 60 sec walk)...they have really helped me to increase my speed while running.

And the countdown is MUCH more clear at this point...thanks!
