14 months and so much more!

For some time now, Sophie has been taking multiple steps, and has been capable of walking but was too cautious to really try to do it consistently.  That all ended last Friday.  I put her in a long dress to........encourage her.  (No, not to torture her)  And it worked!  See for yourself!
She hasn't stopped since!  And in just the few days since then, she's walking constantly without falling most of the time.  And she's getting fast.

So, Dave also reminded me that yesterday was her 14 month mark.  Here are a few things about her at 14 months:
  • She has 12 teeth and is working on 13-16.  Her first set of molars are in and the ones right in front of them are starting to poke through.  She's had a pretty drooly and painful month.
  • She is talking more and more.  The only words that are recognizable are dada, mama, and gone.  Gone is the cutest one.  When she's done with something (like her milk), she puts her palms face up and says "gone".  Also, if someone leaves the room, she does the same thing.  Or if you take something away from her and put it somewhere else, she also does it.  She definitely gets the gist of what it means.
  • She started folding her arms on command just a couple weeks ago.  So cute!
  • She's working on body parts at the moment.  She pretty consistently gets it right when you tell her to show you where her nose, ears and eyelashes are.  (I know.  Random.)  Still working on the others.
  • It's so nice living on just one floor, because that means Sophie can just wander on back to her room and play there, which she does frequently.
  • She loves to color!  She can't do it unsupervised quite yet because she eats the crayons........but she loves it!
  • Her hair is completely unruly.  Longish and weird.  And she won't let me put any kind of rubber band in it.  She screams and throws her head around so I can't.  Just quick little bows that come out every 5 seconds.  Maybe someday she'll hold still.
  • We put some stuff on the walls in her room and she loves to point at them and "talk".
  • She understands a lot of what we say to her.  She knows exactly what you're talking about when we say we're going outside or upstairs or downstairs.  She immediately asks for us to pick her up and looks and points towards wherever it is we're going.
  • She can go down the stairs mostly by herself.  As long as someone is sitting next to her, she does all the work herself and holds onto their leg as she makes her way down.
  • We got her a new carseat shortly after we got back to Utah.  She loves it!  I think having her forward-facing makes a huge difference in how happy she is in the back seat.
  • She absolutely adores her little "Lamby" - a little blue stuffed lamb that my mom gave to her.  She takes him everywhere.  He's really filthy, but I'm worried what she might do if she didn't have him there to sleep with.
Anyway, I could go on forever, but I won't.  Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment.
Playing on her toddler bed.  No, she's not sleeping on it yet.  It was free, so we got it and just have it in there for her to play on for now.

First time eating spaghetti.  So funny!

All the pictures and the video are so cute! She's getting so big! Good job walking, Sophie! Maybe you can tell her Lamby is going to take a bath and she can help put him (is it a him?) in the washing machine? Maybe she would go for it if it isn't near a nap time and she get occupied with something else soon after. You could go have her help put him in the dryer too.
