Graduation was pretty crazy. It came at the end of a really busy week and right before the impending doom of moving. I mean right before. We left just a few hours after graduation was over. Graduation took 2 days to complete. They have something called a Hooding Ceremony the day before the University Graduation. This is only for the law students, so it's a smaller ordeal. Here's Sophie (in her very pretty Easter/Graduation dress) and Grandpa Lott while we were waiting for it to start.
Sophie actually didn't do too well during this. She spent almost the whole thing out in the hallways and foyer area with either Grandma or Grandpa. Glenn did tons better than Sophie did during the whole thing. Shelbee came down for a couple days so she could come to graduation and help us move, and Glenn was pretty good through it all. Anyway, this is a picture of all of the professors in their hoods and robes waiting for the graduates to come in.
Sorry about everyone's heads in the way. It was kind of hard to get good pictures of them. Here's Dave coming in. They walked down the aisles to their seats, so we were able to get a pretty good picture.
Here's Dave being "hooded". The hood is almost like a.......cape, I guess? Except less full? I'll put a picture of it in a bit. Actually, you can see the professor's hood in this picture.
And here he is right after he was hooded (which really isn't a hood at all. it doesn't go on his head ever. just across the front of his chest and down his back. Shelbee thought he should have worn it like a hood just for fun.)There was a reception after the Hooding that had food and tons of people, so we didn't stay long. But we did get a few pictures.
Dave's cape...........er, hood.
This was the marquee on the outside of the Omaha Civc Auditorium, which is where the Hooding took place.
This is Dave opening presents after the Hooding. He's actually sitting on a couch cushion........lots of people and not much seating. We were pretty much packed up at this point. Also, he's sitting in the newly painted and baseboarded living room.......but that's another post. His parents gave him Black's Law Dictionary as a graduation present.......which has some sort of significance, but I'm not sure what it is. It's something that all lawyers have or should have.
During Hooding, Gavin was bored to death, so I actually gave him our iPad to play with and he ended up becoming addicted to Angry Birds for the weekend. I think he was supposed to be in bed at this point. :)
So.........that's all for Hooding. Long post, and I'm only halfway done! There's still the university graduation to post about.
