So today I took Sophie to the story time at our local library for the second time. Last week, she didn't know what to think......and she pretty much hated it. The whole thing. She was either crying or impersonating static cling (or both) the entire time. Afterwards, we went and sat by the board books and read a bunch and checked them out, and she decided maybe the library isn't so bad after all. Today we went for the second time, and I changed my strategy a little. Last time, I carried her into the library and set her down once we got the story time. She freaked out of course. So this time, I got her out of the car and immediately set her down and made her walk next to me. So I never had to put her down in a room full of strangers. No freaking out today. I sat on a chair last time. This time we sat on the floor. I don't know why, but she feels safer if you're on the floor with her. You can't escape as quickly maybe? I don't know, but it worked. She felt more comfortable and ventured away from me a little more and got more involved. We still did board books after and checked them out. I think we'll keep going. It at least gets us out of the house.
Another fun thing I did with Lisa was go to the farmer's market in Murray on Saturday. I have never been to a farmer's market before in my life. I loved it!!!! It was just such a fun atmosphere, and all of the produce looked so good. And tasted so good. :) I got a whole flat of raspberries and made jam this week. And I got some onions and a watermelon. One really nice thing about the market is that you have your choice of produce. Raspberries, for instance, were sold in about 4 different booths. So you could go around, compare prices and how they look and taste, and take your pick. Same thing for all of the other produce. In a grocery store you would just have to take whatever they have available. Too bad it's not year round, eh? :)
One other thing. I finally took my wedding ring in to get sized and cleaned after months of not being able to wear it. It's so good to have it back!
