Proudest Moments

I got to thinking after reading a friend's blog.  I have a few proud moments in my life.  They may not seem like much, but at the time(s), they were big for me.

1.  In high school, there were 2 times when I jumped up and down in excitement.  One was when I got into All-State Band as one of the two tenor saxophones in the whole state.  It was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life.  The other was when I got my highest ACT score in the mail.  I don't know if Lars (my brother) remembers this, but he was right next to me when I opened it.  And I hugged him.  That didn't happen very often.  It was a big deal to me.
2.  I'm a very shy person in general.  Moving to Provo for college was a huge change and challenge for me.  It's hard to discover yourself in a comfortable situation (Delta), and Provo definitely made me step back and think about who I really was and be comfortable with me.  Doing silly things with roommates helped (Dedra, I still remember throwing those mashed potatoes off the balcony.......haha) (Jennie, there were so many I can't name them all, but I think one of the best was having fun with the old toilets on the landing, or encouraging Jen to dress up in a swimming suit and jelly bean tights) (Rachel, singing to Spice Girls with kitchen utensils or having fun with our silly quotes and our great roommates).  There are more roommates and more self-defining memories, but I can't name them all.  However, I think my proudest moment of self discovery was when I went to a movie by myself.  I had finally reached the point where I was comfortable with just me.
3.  Every time I look at Dave and Sophie.  When you graduate from BYU and still aren't married, you start to wonder.  But somehow, I was lucky enough to find Dave.  The first time he met my parents and grandparents, my grandmother said "I'm surprised some nice young lady hasn't snapped you up before now!"  She was a funny lady.  But despite all odds, I found him.  And now we have Sophie, and she is truly a blessing.
4.  Sometimes, when I bake something especially yummy, I say to myself  "Dang, I'm good!"
5.  Okay, now I'm just being silly.

Anyway, those are some of my proud moments.  I'm sure there's more, but that's all for now.

I'm so glad I got mentioned!! I still love singing to that song at the top of my lungs - with or without kitchen utensils. :) Someday maybe I'll grow up!

Thanks for sharing Brooke!
