Well, the post you’ve all been waiting for is finally here. My top 10 things about Omaha that I will miss. You didn’t think I could come up with 10, did you? Well, I did. And here they are.
1. How green everything is and how easy it is to grow things here. I don't think I watered the lawn around our house once last year. And the things that might be all shrimpy and sad in Utah are ginormous here. Also, there are so many huge, green trees. Very nice.
2. Living right next to the woods. This one goes along with the first one, sort of. I love having all that green when I look out the window (although it did keep us from getting DirecTV). I love all of the animals we see because of those woods. And I love how it cuts us off from the rest of the city so I don't feel like I'm living in the middle of it, even though I am.
3. Dave being in school. This is definitely a two-edged sword, because it's frustrating that we don't get to see him as much as we want to and he always has to be gone or studying, but.........the real world is pretty scary. Now we have to worry about a job, a house (eventually), paying back the student loans, etc. It's kind of nice not worrying about those things and being in a stasis of sorts.
4. Our townhome. We have really grown to love our little home, small and old as it is. We have really loved doing projects on it. It's kind of a trying ground for things we may want to do to a permanent home, and we've had a lot of fun.
5. Village Green and all that goes with it. We love living here. It's so nice to live around lots of other students and lots of other ward members. If you need something, they're there for you. We'll miss all of our friends and neighbors.
6. HuHot. If any of you have ever been there, you'll understand. Love, love, love. If I could bring it with me, I would. (don't know what it is? have no fear, the website is here: http://www.huhot.com/) Goodbye, my wonderful, beautiful, glorious HuHot.
7. Living near Shelbee. I haven't lived this close to my sister since before she got married (14 years ago? I know it's around there somewhere) That was one of the reasons we chose Creighton, because it was close to family. I've loved it. And I love her. She's my best friend. I will miss her dearly. (But remember Shelbee, you can always move back to Utah!) It's also sad that we'll be leaving just after she has her baby. We won’t have much time with her/him/it. :(
8. Nearby landmarks/attractions. We are fortunate to live within walking distance of the Lauritzen Gardens, the Henry Doorly Zoo (which has the coolest aquarium I've ever seen. Seriously, if you ever have a chance to go to this zoo, do it!), and Rosenblatt Stadium (which Dave has enjoyed - I don't really care, but it is a piece of history). We also live near some pretty neat Church history sites, like the Mormon Trail Center and the Winter Quarters Temple (along with the pioneer cemetery) and the Kanesville Tabernacle.
9. Memories of Sophie. So many memories of her, even before she was born. Like getting a flat tire in the dark, in the rain, on the way home from one of my doctor's appointments. Or painting her room to prepare for her arrival. Or her long, drawn-out delivery at the hospital she was born in. The midwives and nurses. Seeing her for the first time. Seeing her grow up and hit milestones. Everything, really.
10. Um……… Sorry. I couldn’t think of a funny or poignant number 10. Actually, I couldn’t think of a number 10 at all. Let’s just say number 10 is all of the other 9 combined, wrapped up in one neat little ball of things I’m going to miss. I asked Dave for suggestions and he thought of the weather. Uh, Dave? Don’t you know I’m deathly afraid of tornadoes? But the torrential rain here is pretty cool. Just not the tornadoes that go with it. I’ll go with that. Ooh, or the neat architecture here. That’s a good one. They have so many really neat old churches all over Omaha that you really don’t find in Utah. We went inside of one once. It was pretty cool. Except I’m pretty sure we interrupted their worship service. Sorry!
Well, that about wraps it up. There are the 10 things that I’m going to miss about Omaha.
Goodbye.
And good riddance.
Just kidding Dave! You know I’ve enjoyed our time here. I’m just ready to go home!!!

You made me cry, Brooke. It's been so nice having family close these last 3 years. It's going to feel a bit empty without you in Omaha. I'm really happy for you guys to move forward into the next chapter of your life; even if it is far away. Who knows, maybe I will move to Utah eventually.
I love you so much and I'm so thankful we had the chance to become the best of friends. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Now you both made me cry! I'm really glad you got to share that time together, and I loved coming to visit both of you at the same time (sort of). Omaha just won't be the same without you! But I'm glad it won't be such a long trip to visit you anymore.
Now you've made me cry. I've always been a little jealous the last three years that you two lived so close. I feel a little left out sometimes. Shelbee, you just need to move back to Utah.
