Spring Break Happenings

I know we haven't posted in a bit, but we have been busy over here.  We're trying to get some projects done around the house before we don't have time.......ever again.  So over spring break and the weekend before, we actually completely repainted our 2nd bedroom in preparation for our new addition (who we certainly hope is a girl at this point).  So we have some before and after and really after pictures for you.  This is before.  As you can see, Dave is very happy to be patching the ugly walls.
As you can see, this room was the worst in the house as far as needing patch jobs.  And we only did the really bad ones.  And also, it had a really ugly brown stripe that we had to cover up as well.
So, it took us a couple of days to prep the walls and get them sanded down before we could even put primer on, but after a few days, this is what the room finally looked like.  This is the same wall that had all the patches on it.
This is a shot of the closet doors because we had to paint them too.  Before, the whole room (including the trim and closets) were painted an ugly tan except the ugly brown stripe.  So we had to do the doors and trim white, and the rest of the room we did a pale creamy yellow.  Oh, and we replaced the ugly black knobs on the closet doors in the whole house at the same time.......mostly just because I hated them.
Anyway, moving on.  Over spring break, we also had Dave's parents out here.  They were kind enough to drive their truck all the way out here (almost 1,000 miles) just to bring us some furniture.  They had kept Dave's crib that he used when he was a baby, so we get to use it too, which is nice.
They were also nice enough to bring out the rocking chair that I grew up with.  (And my dad was nice enough to drive through a blizzard to get it to them.  Thanks!)
We did go out and get a changing table as well while Dave's parents were here.
And a carseat and stroller base.
So I guess that means we're pretty much ready for her to come.  Hopefully.  And we can now move on to our next project.

It looks really cute! I'm bummed I wasn't around to help with your painting. You guys did a great job as always!

The room looks great! I think it is so cool that you guys get to use some of the things you had as children for your little one!

Are you going to decorate the room at all? As far as painting the walls and stuff like that?

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean Tana.......we did paint the room. That's what most of the post was about. But if you're talking about cutesy decorations, like a border or putting other stuff on the walls, that would be a no. We just got rid of one border. I don't want to be tortured with another one.

Not even stencils or something like that?

It all looks really great! I can't wait to be there and see it in person.

Nope. No stencils. For one thing, I'm not creative. For another, cutesy isn't my thing. And for another, keep in mind that when we (hopefully) sell our unit in a year, we want it to be appealing to whatever kind of people might want to buy it, whether they have kids or not. So no stencils. Sorry.
