Movie Quiz #19

New movie quote! Yes I know it has been a month since the last one, it’s not my fault. Well, maybe it is but it didn’t help that only two people knew the last movie quote. Two. The knowledge that no one seems to know or care about one of my favorite movies growing up seemingly sent me into near clinical depression. Fortunately, after a lot of episodes of Star Trek and several Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs, I have recovered enough to do another movie quote.

First let’s start with the past movie quote shall we? The movie (of course) is Disney’s 1993 version of The Three Musketeers.

The specific quote….

“Oh don't be so stupid, of course we intend to resist! Just give us a moment, all right?”

…came from Porthos which was in response to a question posed by a captain of the Cardinal’s Guards whether they were going to come in quietly or were going to resist. Up to this point we have a correct answer given by Lars. One point for the movie and one point for who said it. However, Lars mistakenly placed the incident in a bar which was a real moment in the movie. There is a time where the same captain tries to arrest the same musketeers in a bar (which ends badly for the Cardinal’s Guards) but that is not where the quote is said. The same captain shows up to arrest the musketeers again right as D’Artagnan and Aramis are going to duel which leads Aramis to say, “Only a fool would try and arrest us twice in one day.” The captain tries to arrest them, the movie quote is said, the musketeers and D’Artagnan fight the guards and win. Katrina did get the context right on the redux movie quote #18.5 which gives her one point. However I feel like I should be rewarding those who gave a solid effort in trying, which is what I ask for in this movie quote blog quiz. Therefore I am giving Lars an extra half point for a quasi right answer in what apparently was a tough quiz. I also am awarding a quarter of a point to Jorden for at least trying to answer the movie quiz when so many didn’t even try. The final total for the past movie quiz therefore is: Lars two and a half points, Katrina one point, and Jorden a quarter of a point. Yes I’m being awfully generous but I think that is because it is Friday and the semester is almost done.

Here are some pictures from the movie…

Evil guy #1 (Cardinal Richelieu)

Evil guy #2 (Rochefort)

Good Guys

I thought this past movie quote was going to be an easy one, but it apparently was too hard. I’m not going to be limited to new release movies you know? I was thinking about doing a pretty hard one next to give points to the diehard movie quote person. However I think I’ll do something famous but yet you might not know exactly where it comes from. Here we go…

“We few, we happy few, we band of brothers, for he today who sheds his blood with me shall be my brother…”

I’m still feeling really generous so two big hints for you….First, I’m not limiting you to a specific adaptation and second, this quote was said on October 25th.

Good luck.

Obviously this won't count, but I'm almost positive that this quote is in the introduction to the HBO Miniseries Band of Brothers set during WWII (not what you're going for I'm sure). However, this quote was not originally from that movie, but from a Shakespeare play (maybe Henry V?, never read it but this info will come in handy on Jeopardy some day).

Ok, I don't know exactly where this quote is from. However, I do know a little bit about Shakespeare, and this is obviously from Shakespeare. Using my skills of deduction, and know that this quote must be from a play about war, I am going to guess it is from Henry V...the Kenneth Branagh/Christian Bale version. If it is from Henry V, then I would wager that Henry V says it (Kenneth Branagh) prior to going to battle...my guess would be the last battle of the film. But that is as far as my guess can go.

David- I have never met you, but must say I appreciate already your taste in movies. The Three Musketeers is one of my all time favorites! And, if I had started checking your blog awhile ago I would have truly enjoyed regaling you with my knowledge of that specific movie :) Having said that, I have no clue where the new quote came from and will need to enlist the help of my husband when he gets home. So... here's to hoping he knows the quote!

I have enlisted the help of my hubby (who as soon as I started reading the quote finished it for me)- and here is his answer:

Henry V- Saint Crispin's Day speech, for he today that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother.

I really have no idea where this is from, but I’m going to take a wild guess (since you want some sort of effort). I’m taking a guess that it is from Robin Hood Men in Tights, said by Robin as they are getting ready to go fight.

I wasn't going to comment on this because I don't know a movie about this but I know where the quote comes from. Skakespeare wrote this speech for Henry V before the Battle of Agincourt. Henry was rallying the his troops to fight a much larger French force and needed something to inspire them. The battle was on October 25th 1415 which happens to be St. Crispins Day. I have know idea who St. Crispin was or what he did, but Henry must have noticed. The English did win the battle and Henry made it home and the speech became famous. This quote from that speech about a "Band of Brothers" has been used by generals, politicians, football coaches and lot's of others.

Sorry, I don't know what movie this may be from but I had to through in my two cents.
