Tag

Apparently my mother doesn't remember what it was like as I grew up.  Because she tagged me to tell about Easter in our family.   Actually, here's the exact question.

When you were a child, who dyed the Easter eggs in your household? Who hid the eggs? Did you get a new Easter outfit every year?

And here we go.......

As a child, all of us dyed the easter eggs......okay, let me rephrase.  All of us, as in all of the kids who were still young enough to care plus my mom.  I don't really remember Ian dying eggs, but I think I remember everyone else.  We got pretty creative with the eggs and it always took a long time.  As far as who hid them, it was usually any adults that happened to be around, or later, the older kids too.  A lot of times we would be at my grandparents' house and have an easter egg hunt there, which means that my grandma, aunt and mom would be the ones hiding them.  I think we usually had 2 separate hunts.  One at home and one there.  Anyway, the hunt at our house consisted of the adults hiding the eggs, and then they usually let the younger kids have a head start so they could find the really easy ones before the older kids came and took everything.  We usually had it inside the house.  And let me tell you, I think there was one egg hidden inside of the cat's bowl of food every year.  We usually only had the real eggs for this hunt, although I think we may have added some plastic eggs with candy later on.  As for the one at my grandparents' house, it was always outside in their back yard.  It consisted of the real eggs, plastic eggs with candy inside and I think they also hid candy as well.  Anyway, they were both fun.  We didn't ever get an easter outfit that I can remember.  We only got new clothes right before school started and sometimes for Christmas.  Anyway, that's my spiel about Easter.

Isn't Easter supposed to be springy?  It's really gloomy today.....

Thanks Brooke! I don't remember the egg in the cat's dish though.

We also had an easter egg hunt at crater bench a long time ago. I don't remember other easters that much...mostly the ones with pictures. There was one with Debby's family. I remember eating the boiled eggs after and often having them colored because of cracks in the shell or whatever other reason.
